The Board Book Round Robin took place from January through March 2002. Each of the six artists in my group chose a child’s board book to work with, and created a cover and concept to guide the other artists. Every two weeks, we’d pass the book we’d worked in to the next artist in line. Each artist created a double-page layout according to the rules set out by the book’s owner. As the weeks passed, we were passing books that were more and more complete, making it both more wonderful to receive them, and more difficult to create work that fit with the book’s personality. The books I saw in their most complete states were true treasures.
