Glue Cards

Glue cards are 4×6 inch cards made by gluing found images to them. I made a whole book of these, which you can see over at my Little Fat Glue Book gallery. Now, I mostly make them to swap with my local art group.

The Sketchbook Project 2012

In 2011, I signed up to do The Sketchbook Project. Everyone gets the same journal, and a theme, and can do whatever they wish with it.

Shrines

The first time I mentioned making shrines at the office, a whole table full of people looked at me like I had two heads. I love making little pocket-sized shrines in Altoid tins, although I also have some really large ones in the works.

Postcards

These postcards are made from a variety of materials: photos, fabric, paper, whatever. If it’s flat and rectangular, and I can slap a stamp on it, I’ll call it a postcard.

Journaling Classes

In 2011, I took some visual journaling classes online. These pages are from those classes.

4x4s

I do 4×4 inch collages as book pages and free standing artwork. Here are a few examples.

Assemblage

I do a lot of pieces that just grow from piles of found objects.

ATCs

Artist Trading Cards, or ATCs, are small pieces of artwork that are swapped between artists. I really enjoy making them in between projects, or when I just want to play with an idea quickly, with very little time commitment.

Collage

Whenever I can, I do a big piece that is meant to stay home rather than go off to a swap partner. One of my goals when I moved into my own home was to cover the walls with my own artwork. Little by little, I’m getting there…

Collage Squares

These are tiny—sometimes VERY tiny—squares that have been collaged.

Gluebook #1

My first gluebook.

Gluebook #2

Inspired by the black and white cover of the comp book I chose for my second gluebook, I decided to do an entirely black and white gluebook—and to do one set of pages for each letter of the alphabet.

Gluebook #3

I challenged the members of the gluebooks group to do a page a day during the month of October. I chose to do a book of single pages to help me stick to the page a day idea. Here are all 31 pages in order, plus the decorated cover.

Gluebook #4

With the new year came a new page-a-day challenge on the Gluebooks list. Once again, I chose to do single pages rather than a double page layout each day. Thanks to list member Terry, there was also a prompt to follow (or not follow) each day.

Gluebook #5

I bought an old thesaurus, and started working alphabetically in July 2005.

Gluebook #6

I started this gluebook in July 2009.

Little Fat Gluebook

Because I can’t bring myself to sign up for a little fat book project and make 60 copies of a page, I decided to do a little fat gluebook made with 4×6 cards.

Journals

I aspire to keep an art journal, but sadly, I just can’t stay focused enough to get beyond a few pages. These are pages from some of the random journals that have passed through my hands.

Skinny Books

Skinny book pages tend to be quite a bit narrower than they are tall. I like the challenge of working tall and narrow rather than short and wide like I do in altered books.

Soul Collage

In an effort to make my work less superficial and a little more introspective, I’m building a set of soul collage cards. For me, this exercise has to do with getting in touch with all the pieces and parts of myself, giving them names, and helping me to understand them better.
